Teacher Thank You Gift Basket

I recently put together this basket to thank a teacher. I decided to go with relaxing items like tea, an adult coloring book, coloring pencils, relaxing lavender and chamomile bath salts, hand cream and a fun pair of Harlequin slipper socks. I arranged all the items in one of the reusable tins I had leftover from my reader event table favors. After spending a day in the classroom with kids, what teacher doesn't need a little pampering? I hope this basket helps inspire you the next time you need to thank a teacher.

Table Favor Ideas

A few months ago, I attended the California Dreamin' Writers' Conference. The picture on the left is historical romance author Sarah MacLean giving the keynote speech. 

During the conference, I participated in a Barbara Vey reader event. There were two authors at each table and we were asked to provide table favors for the readers who were sitting with us. 

My favor was a metal tin that included my latest release, The Secret Marriage Pact, gold tipped pencils to inspire creative writing, a glittery clothespin to help the participants keep all those bookmarks organized, and a net bag of M&M's because you have to have chocolate. Below, is a picture of how my tin looked on the table.

Coffee Lovers Gift Basket

Are you looking for a gift basket idea for a large group or organization? Then here's a basket for you. I organized this basket for a group and everyone donated an item. I decided to go with coffee because most people love their morning cup of Joe.

Items in the basket included various types of coffee, cups, travel mugs, a Mr. Coffee Coffee Press, biscotti, Starbucks syrup, a Mickey Mouse Mug Warmer, a Starbucks gift card, small bottles of Kahlua, coffee scented nail polish, a book on the history of coffee and other assorted coffee related items. The items were placed in a shallow basket that can be reused by the winner. It was a fun and easy basket to organize for a group.

Tea and Notes Gift Basket

I don't know about you, but I seem to write a lot of notes to teachers, friends, relatives and various other people. My need for note paper led me to create this gift basket for a silent auction. Included in the basket is a blank card with envelope, a silver box of note cards, a memo pad, and a set of fancy pencils. For a little relaxation after writing notes, I included a journal, chocolate, a scented candle, tea, a tea towel, lip balm, and one of my romance novels. After all, once the hard work of getting through a to do list is done, a person should reward themselves.

Feminine Office Supplies Gift Basket

In December, I took advantage of the Target after Christmas clearance sale to stock up my gift basket closet. I hit the sales when things were both 50% and then 90% off, and I made sure to choose items that did not have any whiff of Christmas about them. It seemed gold was in this past Christmas, especially at Target, so a lot of the items that I purchased were pretty gold-themed office supplies.

At first, I was going to sprinkle the supplies through different baskets, but then I decided to put a lot of them together to create this feminine office supplies gift basket. This is a great gift for any mom looking to establish or spruce up her home office or the cute little desk space in the kitchen.

The items in the basket include a set of file folder dividers, a silver box of note cards, fancy pencils, a gold themed paperclip and pushpin set, a blank card with envelope, and a magnetic memo pad. I also threw in a bag of M&Ms for the winner to enjoy on those days when life is hectic, and one of my books to read when the pace slows down. A scented candle, some tea, and Burt's Bees lip balm and hand cream round out the offering. Everything is in a chrome wire basket that can be reused in the kitchen or office to hold decorative items.

Tea Gift Basket

It's been a while since I last posted a gift basket. Below is one I recently created for a silent action for the St. Madeleine Sophie's Center's annual Haute with Heart event. St. Madeline Sophie's Center is an amazing day facility for adults with developmental disabilities. Check out their website to see the great work that they do. Every year they hold a fashion show and silent auction to raise money for their center and to help fund all the great work they do there.

My contribution to this wonderful event is a tea basket. Inside is everything someone needs for a relaxing afternoon either reading one of my Regency historical romance novels or watching this BBC version of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility while enjoying a cup of tea. I set it all in a reusable canvas storage basket which can later be used to store magazines or toys in your living room or bedroom.

 Other items in this basket include:

2 white ceramic Bodum mugs -  I love these because they are stylish but simple and sturdy, and they have the silicone grip.

A simple white ceramic teapot -  I chose a simple white so it would match anyone's decor. This one is from Starbucks but Amazon has an amazing selection of similar teapots.

Signature Tea Company teas in pretty little tins. I love teas in tins because it makes the tea feel so much more elegant.

4 passes to the San Diego Museum of Art - Viewing old masterpieces it's another relaxing way to spend an afternoon.

Threshold linen napkins to liven up a tea spot.

Harlequin cozy socks to help make the tea drinker cozy, along with a journal to write down their thoughts or to be creative.

Adorable Birthday Gift Basket for a Little Boy

With Easter over, I'm back to making gift baskets for different silent auctions. I got the idea for this basket when I picked up the cute sailor bucket at a going out of business sale. I filled it with a few things little boys love. A number of the items were clearance steals that I scored throughout the year. The Cool Gear kid cup was a Target 90% summer sale item (yes, 90% off). Instead of around $5 it was about $.50. I bought more than one. I found the Lego DVD at Dollar Tree, along with the Crazy Eight card game which usually sells at Walmart for about $3.99, the Silly Putty and the Hot Wheels car.

When I purchase items for baskets, I don't always know what I'm going to do with them. I still snag them on the cheap, put them in my office closet, and eventually the inspiration comes to me. I hope you find inspiration in this cute basket, and during your next shopping trip.

Tea, Books and DVD Gift Basket

It's a new year which means it's time for some new gift baskets. First, I want to share one that I did for the holidays. Although it has a copy of my Christmas novella in the It Happened One Christmas anthology, a DVD of Miracle on 34th Street and some vintage Christmas ornaments (the little girl screaming in the lower right corner), this basket could be changed to suit any occasion.

After The Holiday Relaxation Basket

The time between Thanksgiving and the New Year can be hectic. There is a lot to do between shopping, wrapping presents, decorating, finishing my latest novel, letting someone else cook, ordering the food someone else is going to cook from a restaurant, and going to parties

 (can you tell I'm not much of a cook?).

Afterward, a lady needs some down time. 

What a better way to relax than with some wine, chocolate, a movie or a god book, and some pamper yourself hand cream. Above is a gift basket I put together to help someone relax after the wonderful activity of the Christmas Season.

Turkey Chili Basket

Leftover season is almost upon us. Time to think about what to do with all the extra turkey. It's also time for some quick and easy meals after a long day of shopping, or decorating for Christmas. I put this basket together as an easy meal idea, or a way to deal with leftovers. The basket can also be given as a hostess gift. This is another basket for my RWA literacy event. Exercise Gift Basket

My local Romance Writers of America chapter holds a literacy fundraising event every November. Many creative and fun gift baskets are created for a raffle to help raise money for literacy programs. This year, I am donating two baskets. Here is one of them.

Gift Basket Season is Starting Up Again

With summer winding down, and fall just a few weeks away, gift basket season is starting up again. I am ready for it! I've had a number of people ask me to donate baskets for different silent auctions and I will be posting the finished products as I have them.

Today's basket is a cocktail one I recently did for a silent auction. It was a good way to use up a number of mini bottles of booze which came into my possession. I also included the DVD of Notes on  a Scandal, highball glasses with drink recipes printed on them, cocktail napkins, a glass pitcher for mixing and of course, a couple of my books. The basket is a chrome fruit basket I found at Ross.

As I receive request for baskets, my goal is to make them a little larger and more elaborate. We'll see what happens.

Tea & Photography Gift Baskets

With spring just around the corner, a lot of silent auctions are coming up. Below are three baskets I've created for recent events. 

The first basket is a black and white photography themed basket. I took a number of coffee table books and some beautiful prints from the Museum of Photographic Arts and combined them with my 1935 Hollywood novel, Studio Relations. I also added a DVD of the movie Letters from Iwo Jima because the box is a beautiful sepia tone that goes with the theme of the basket. For fun I added two martini glasses and some black and white samples of Vox vodka and put in another pop of red with a small box of chocolate.

The second basket I did was a more traditional tea and books basket. I found a lovely blue teapot and a blue mug and added a tin of tea and a small jar of honey. Behind the cup and pot, I added a number of historical romances, including my Regency romance The Courtesan's Book of Secrets to help make someone's Saturday relaxing.

The last basket I did was for a Mardi Gras event. 

I don't normally photograph the baskets in the plastic, but as I was getting ready to run out of the house and drop this off, I realized I'd forgotten to take a picture. This was my contemporary romance basket. I included a bottle of wine, a tote bag, wine glasses, a notebooks, a hunky cowboy bookmark and a number of contemporary romances. I was told the by event organizers that this was one of their "hot item" baskets and very popular.
