Books and Baskets #1 - A Night at the Movies

Every year, my church holds a Mardi Gras event with a silent auction. This is the second year that I'm submitting a gift basket for the auction. Last year, I made a wonderful tea themed basket featuring my sweet Regency romance, Lady's Wager. It included a cottage tea pot, chocolate, tea and other assorted goodies. Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture, so you'll have to trust me that it was lovely. People still compliment me on that basket.

For this year's Mardi Gras, I'm donating another basket featuring my contemporary romance novel of love in Hollywood, Labor Relations. Since the book is set in Hollywood, I decided to do a family movie night basket.

The basket was fun and inexpensive to put together. Dollar Tree had the movie theater-sized candy and the pop corn bucket. I also got lucky because right before Christmas, they had a lot of DVDs (most of which still had the Target and Wal-Mart tags still on them). I chose Lassie and a few family friendly classic films staring Cary Grant and John Wayne. To add to the night at the movies theme, I added microwave popcorn and two small sodas. Hopefully, the bidders will like this basket as much as they liked the one I donated last year.

I also ended up doing a second, romance basket for the silent auction. To check it out, click here.

Sounds like a fun event. Our church as a dessert auction each year and the bidding can get pretty intense. It's always fun.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. You'll have to let me know if you restyle your router with a book, I want to try that too but haven't found the right book and don't feel like buying one just to take out the pages.

Have a great day!
