This December has been a great one for holiday tea parties. The month began with a tea at my house with my writer friends. I had the opportunity to dust off the china and set a lovely table. Everyone brought a different tea dish, from finger sandwiches to scones and we had a great time.
It was a wonderful way to kick off the holiday party season.
This weekend, I attended the Victorian Ladies Society holiday tea where I gave a talk on Regency England Christmas traditions. It gave me a chance to dust off my Regency gown and attempt to wrangle my hair into a somewhat Regency-esq style.
If you are looking for a great account of Christmas in Regency England, I recommend reading Washington Irving's Old Christmas. He paints a beautiful picture of what it was like to spend Christmas at an English country manor.

Delightful idea for a tea party! I would love to learn more about this era and its holiday traditions- and what fun to dress the part!
