Bout of Books - Event & Goals

Hi all. I am participating in the Bout of Books.

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 7th and runs through Sunday, January 13th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 6.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. -From the Bout of Books 6.0 team

Here are my goals. They might look pretty light, but with everything going on in life right now, they're manageable.

TIME DEVOTED TO READING

I will read 20 minutes a day all week. I usually read at bedtime, so I will scale back on the internet and read more this week.

MY GOALS

  • Finish The Four Queens: The Provencal Sister who Ruled Europe by Nancy Goldstone. This is the first book I am reading for 2013.
  • Begin The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. This book has been on my TBR shelf for so long. It's time to finally start reading it.

BOOKS TO READ

Sunday
Well, I didn't get as much reading done this weekend, or this week as I wanted to. I didn't finish my book and I never started Pillars of the Earth. Life just got in the way. However, it was fun to participate in the challenge. I will probably finish The Four Queens later this week since I only have about 40 pages left.

Ive heard good things about Pillars of Earth from multiple sources, but I haven't read it yet.

Re: Goals - You can always add more if you need to!

Happy Reading!

Hope you keep getting that bedtime reading time. I am not a great historical reader myself preferring contemporary. But occasionally enjoy a historical.

I usually get my reading time in when waiting for my daughter to get out of school in the pick up line. We have to get there pretty early with the driveway set up. Good luck with all your reading

Sorry you didn't feel so well yesterday. :( Hopefully you felt better today and got some reading in!

Hope you're feeling better now! Your book sounds fascinating - and I REALLY should finally pick up 'Pillars of the Earth' at some point. It's been on my TBR shelves for far too long! :)
Happy reading for day 4!

I usually read before bed too, I just feel like I've forgotten something if I don't! I just couldn't get into Pillars of the Earth, even though it should have been something I liked. I may have to try it again sometime, I might have just not been in the mood then. Good luck this week!

That sounds like a lot of fun. I like that you are not competing against anyone but yourself. I really need to get more reading in. I want to hit 50 books this year, and I haven't even finished my first. I'm dropping by from Our Everyday Harvest's blog hop. I hope you can drop by and say hello.
